My child was a student at the Gulen Harmony Science Academy School in Texas, we served on the Parent Association and were involved with many fundraisers. Gulen Charter School- We were very dedicated to this group until we realized there was more to these schools than just "education". Our posts are from actual news sources and government data such as IRS tax returns, H1-B Visa information and other documentation.

ReplyDeleteSchool policies require that students do not wear necklaces (rosemary is a necklace) during school hours. And if your child is dear to you, you wouldn’t let her wear this to school.
Today you’re angry or dissatisfied because they wouldn’t let her wear it and tomorrow you’ll sue the school because your child was hurt (or even worse, she suffocated) because of this necklace. Kids play, you know? This is typical for ignorant people. Comply with the rules!!

First of all it is called a "Rosary" bead not Rosemary. Obviously English is not your first language, shame that you are teaching in American schools.

Our children are dear to us and we let them wear their religious necklaces to school. It is called "freedom of religion" maybe you didn't learn that at one of the Gulen Lighthouses that you attended, but it is something Americans hold very dear to our Constitutional rights.

Beg your child not to wear such things? So what is the difference between holding a cross and wearing a hibjab? You demand we understand your culture but you do not respect ours. Your interfaith dialogs are centered around yourselves and Gulen. Your group demands we take Muslim sensitivity training. I have an thought. You learn to be more sensitive to our values and our way of life and for now we beg for you to keep your special interests out of our children's education.
